free over night stop over at Dawlish warren at the landward side car park this permits overnight stays for Motorhomes with a two night limit you may
park from 6pm-9am free of charge during other hours normal parking rates
apply this a trial scheme. Also the same scheme for Teignmouth Eastcliff
car park which is close to the beach.
The use of Dawlish Warren and Eastcliffe Teignmouth is experimental and so far I would say everyone has acted very responsibly. I can't speak much for Dawlish Warren but at Eastcliffe (Teignmouth) about 3 to 4 motorhomes are parked there each night. Eascliffe is a very short walk (about 100 yds) along a footpath to the beach and a further 250 yds to the beginning of the town. There is a toilet block and I presume a water supply. Parking overnight from 6PM to 9AM is free but you do have to pay to park during the day which is around £3.
At present it is also possible to park on the Teignmouth sea front with questionable legality
free overnight parking at the french end of the channel tunnel
people stay in the Camping Car parking area of Cite Europe which is next door.
Here is a list of Aires and safe wild camp places from Blanes to Nerja. Also tips on where to buy cheaper fuel and get internet access.
The photos are all to be found at the link below. Either click on a photo to enlarge to fill the screen or click the small icon 4 from left under the first photo to play them all as a slide show. The ones still with an image number are the second Peniscola Aire. They can all be printed also if you want.
There are two word documents attached. One has all the co-ordinates etc of the sites and one should get you at least 24hours grace before the Garda move you on.
The distances between are not massive so they should be ideal for travel down to Almeria. My favourite is La Azohia where you can watch the fishing boats leave at 5am and come back in at around 3pm with fresh fish

Hi, aren't we being constantly reminded that tiredness is one of the main causes of accidents and that we should take a break? I would use that argument if asked to move on, and make it obvious that I was noting the police officers number for my complaint!
Apart from a few exceptions, in most European countries "wild camping" is forbidden, while "overnight parking" is not. The threshold between the two is usually drawn if you:
stay for more than one night put down corner steadies etc.
roll out an awning put out items such as camping furniture, BBQs, tents, etc. run a generator.
As a rule of thumb: If you stay for more than one night on the same spot, and if you could drive away at any time without leaving the vehicle, then you are just parking.
specific info:
Austria:
Similar to Germany with one notable exception: The federal state of Tyrol maintains a very strict ban on overnighting in all kinds of "mobile dwellings" outside of regular camp sites. And enforces it even on private ground!
Belgium:
Wild camping is forbidden. Overnight parking is tolerated, except where bans are explicitly signposted.
Denmark:
Wild camping is forbidden. Overnight parking is forbidden on beaches, and where it is explicitly signposted. Police strictly distinguishes between wild camping and overnight parking.
France:
Wild camping is allowed out-of-town, except in certain areas like nature reserves, water protection areas, military areas, or close to listed monuments. In towns it is usually "regulated" by the local authorities, meaning that it is restricted to certain areas like Camping Municipals or Aire Camping-Cars.
Luxembourg:
Both wild camping and overnight parking are forbidden. There are however a few "aires" like in France.
Netherlands:
Wild camping is forbidden. Overnight parking is (since 2008) normally legal, but local councils may ban it on their territory. It is seen as sufficient if signs with notifications about such local bans are placed at the border of the municipality.
hope this helps
